Aiko Miura san 's tableware is a joy to look at. Not only are her pieces overflowing with originality and adorable decorations, but they also have a warm, gentle quality that can only come from something that is handmade. We asked her about her work and other aspects!
"Various shapes can be created from a lump of clay, and you can experience the joy of making things by hand," says Miura san, explaining the appeal of pottery.
Depending on the image of the vessel, she uses different techniques such as potter's wheel, tatara making, and hand-forming. Lovely things born from nothing. Miura'san s vessels seem to be overflowing with the joy of creation.
Vivid colors are mainly used, and the exquisite color combinations are one of the attractions. "Yachimun pottery gives you energy," Miura san told us. The bright colors may be related to the fact that he studied pottery at an art university in Okinawa. She currently makes pottery every day in Oita, Kyushu.
The motifs used are strawberries, squirrels, fruits, and other things that tickle the hearts of young girls. The cuteness that makes your heart flutter is irresistible.
"I aim to create tableware that will instantly brighten up your dining table and make you feel happy every time you use it."
These pottery pieces warm the hearts of those who use them in their daily lives. I am sure they will continue to bring lots of happiness to many people.
