Adachino Pottery

In Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, they produce elegantly decorated pottery called “Seisekki,” which is made by applying makeup clay to loess. Stoneware has been made in the Mino region since the beginning of the Showa period, but production has gradually ceased due to the increasing demand for production efficiency. After about 30 years of blankness, the merits of handmade products came to be reconsidered, and a trend was born to pass on the techniques again. Akane Adachi, the maker , aims to create vessels that are casual, everyday, and snuggle up to the heart, while making the most of her stoneware techniques.
