When I touch something soft and adorable, my cheeks unconsciously relax and my fingertips naturally begin to follow its contours. As I trace the unevenness, I feel as if you are gathering something hidden within...Ms. Oya says that she has always loved such moments, and still does today.
"Tableware is complete only when it is used. That's why I'm particular about creating a plump, three-dimensional appearance and a texture that makes you want to stroke it. I want it to be something that gently embraces all of the actions of looking at it, touching it, and displaying it."

She told us that the reason she was drawn to the art of ceramics is because of its "unpredictable fun." During the final process, firing, in a kiln that exceeds 1,230 degrees, the color and shape change beyond the creator's imagination. Things don't always go as planned. I encounter unexpected expressions. This randomness is the greatest attraction of ceramics. And in the end, you end up relying on God... this generosity gives her a freedom not found in other materials, and gently pushes him forward as she creates.
The theme of the representative series is the color, shape, and hint of fragrance hidden in plump buds. The Tulip series was born from the desire to capture in a vessel that thrilling moment just before the flower blooms.

The origin of the forms and motifs is the curves of nature. Rather than artificial straight lines, we use lines that have a slight fluctuation. We search for pleasing contours by observing the flowing, uneven shapes of plant leaves and buds.

The colors are mixed on the spot each time, so the look changes depending on how they are mixed, and no two pieces are the same. We value the finish, intentionally leaving some room for variation, so that people can appreciate these differences as individuality.

Ms .Oya has focused on tableware up until now, but is currently considering tea sets and cake plates as well. She hopes to make tea time at home a richer and more special experience... She will continue to create objects that gently add a touch of elegance to everyday life.
The moment you pick one up, you can feel its warmth and presence quietly through your fingertips. With these vessels lined up, everyday time begins to flow just a little more slowly. Her tableware certainly seems to bring about such small changes in our daily lives.
