"When I saw this candlestick, I wanted to display candles for the first time." This was the comment I received from one of my customers.
It was an incident that made her realize that it was possible to create works that were not just vessels, but that could bring small changes and joy to the lives of those who received them.

Ms. Sakya Makuda has been surrounded by pottery since she was a child. She grew up with her father, a potter, and was naturally in contact with clay. However, when she started to walk the path of pottery with her own hands, she found the world deeper than she had imagined. Despite being known to get bored easily, she was drawn to the never-ending path of pottery and makes pottery every day in her studio in Shizuoka.
The creation of the pieces is done in tune with the sensations and moods of the moment. Although molds are used, they are not solely relied upon. By adding an extra step, a unique sense of movement and warmth is created. Each expression that is born in this way seems to reflect the "now" of the creator.
When she first started pottery, she created many pieces with a cute, warm style. However, in her daily life, the things she picks up and is drawn to are all Western antiques that exude a sense of time. In particular, she was captivated by the graceful and tranquil curves of the slender legs of antique glass, and naturally began to incorporate that beauty into her own works.

With an eye toward the beauty that lies in the supportive function of objects such as the legs of tables and chairs, and the pillars of buildings, we have created candlesticks and compotes that exude a dignified presence and quiet elegance.
The dignified curves and quiet presence bring an elegant tension to the space, and when combined with the addition of lighting and illumination, it creates a special moment in your everyday life.

The bear-shaped object is not only adorable, but also has a quiet dignity with a subdued sweetness, and gently nestles in adult spaces. Its appearance tickles your heart and brings a smile to your face...it is a presence that suddenly reminds you of gentle feelings.

Just as a spoonful of spice enhances a dish, these things bring depth and spaciousness to your life just by being there. They quietly stand there and make the everyday scenery a little more endearing.
I would be delighted if you could pick up and take a look at these works.
