Artist of Tokoname Pottery (Aichi)

Tokoname ware is a type of pottery produced in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture and around the Chita Peninsula. In the latter half of the Edo period, when the Maecha tea boom occurred, Shozaemon Inaba is said to have started the red clay teapot by referring to old teapots. In modern times, tiles, teccolata, and sanitary ware that were in demand as building materials have been produced that are closely related to daily life. In addition, perhaps because of the warm and friendly temperament of the seaside town, it is also a place where many artists who create with free ideas set up workshops.
