She recounts how she picked up a book on slipware at her university library and was instantly captivated by the various slipware vessels pictured within. Now, she pursues a unique expression of slipware, combining traditional slipware techniques with newly acquired painting skills.

Slipware: Her Unique Sensibility in Form

Slipware is created by layering and decorating with creamy slip (liquid clay) on top of a base slip, then firing. The bold compositions, delicate and refined designs, and vibrant yet subtle colors and palettes are captivating to behold.

Despite the high difficulty of the technique, which requires drawing the patterns before the slip dries and without any preliminary sketching, the delicate and dynamic depictions are truly captivating.

These chopstick rests feature lovely floral designs in subdued, modern colors. Simply having them on the table naturally lifts your spirits.

As each item is handmade, there will be individual differences in color, shape, thickness, size, weight, glaze unevenness/pooling, small stone marks, slight wobbles, and subtle variations in patterns. Additionally, some items may show differences in glaze application, crazing, pinholes, or iron spots (black dots), but these do not affect usability.
