Captivated by Slipware

She was captivated by a slipware book she happened to pick up in a university library. The various slipware pieces featured in it struck a chord with her, and she became completely enchanted. Now, she is pursuing a unique expression of slipware, combining traditional slipware techniques with newly acquired painting skills.

Slipware: A Form of Unique Sensibility

Slipware is created by layering and decorating with slip (a cream-like liquid clay and water mixture) over a base layer of slip, and then firing the piece. Its bold compositions, delicate and refined designs, and vibrant yet subdued colors and color schemes are captivating to behold.

Breathtaking Beauty

Despite the highly difficult technique required, where patterns must be drawn in one swift motion before the slip dries and without any preliminary sketching, one is captivated by the delicate and dynamic depictions.

As each item is handmade, there will be individual differences in color, shape, thickness, size, weight, glaze unevenness/pooling, stone bursts, slight wobbling, and subtle variations in patterns and designs. Additionally, some items may have differences in glaze application, crazing, pinholes, or iron spots (black dots), but these do not affect usability.
