Expressive pottery that feels warm to the touch
Because they are for daily use, we strive for a simple design that is warm and timeless. Each piece is carefully handcrafted in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, with a focus on ease of handling and use, creating pottery that gently accompanies the lives of those who use it.

"Kohiki" is a technique in which white slip (clay thinned with water, different from glaze, used to give the surface a white finish) is applied to brown clay before firing. By applying white slip to Shigaraki red clay, which is rich in iron, and firing it twice, a soft and gentle white texture is achieved. The charm lies in the unique expression of Kohiki, which is rustic yet possesses an understated elegance.

Because each piece is handmade, there are individual differences in color, shape, size, thickness, weight, and glaze variations. In addition, the firing color, pinholes, and iron spots (black dots) will vary depending on how the glaze is applied. Please rest assured that this does not affect the use of the product. Enjoy the unique personality that comes only with handmade items. While we cannot choose which specific piece you will receive, we hope you will look forward to its arrival. If you have any concerns, please contact us before shipment, and we will be happy to email you photos of the item.

〇 Before first use, please wash lightly with detergent and use as is. 〇 When serving oily or dark-colored food, dipping the item in water beforehand will make it less prone to staining. 〇 Due to the absorbency of the pottery, it may turn gray or develop spots when soaked in water, but these will return to their original state once completely dried, so please rest assured. 〇 After use, please dry thoroughly before storing to prevent mold and stains. |
| Understanding "Handmade Pottery" before purchase |
|
〇 Because each piece is handmade, there are individual differences in color, shape, pattern, size, thickness, and weight. Even with the same glaze and clay, color irregularities and shading may occur. 〇 As hand-painted items, expressions may also vary for each piece. 〇 Depending on the manufacturing process, small holes, small black spots, scratches, bumps, pinholes, wobbling, or warping may be visible. 〇 While product images are processed to be as close to the actual color as possible, the color and texture may appear different depending on your computer or smartphone display. 〇 We deliver products that have passed not only the inspections of the manufacturer, kiln, or artist but also our own final inspection. 〇 Product photos are taken as samples; therefore, no two items will be exactly the same. 〇 We do not accept returns or exchanges for customer convenience. Please understand and acknowledge this before purchasing. 〇 We hope you will enjoy the "charm" and "character" of handmade items that cannot be found in mass-produced factory goods! |
