Soft curves
The oval katakuchi bowl features gentle, soft lines that exude a warmth. Its simple, gentle texture blends in well with any type of Japanese, Western, or Chinese cuisine, making it look even more delicious.

A warm, powdered white finish
The soft expression of this Kohiki ware is achieved by applying white makeup. The light pinkish red spots called Gohon, which are unique to Kohiki ware, give it an indescribable warmth.

Tasteful appearance
The iron contained in the clay oxidizes during firing and appears as black spots (iron powder) on the surface of the pottery. The scattered black spots of iron add an even more profound flavor to the pottery.

Makes plating fun
This bean bowl will be a wonderful accent for your dining table. It is about 3.3cm deep, so you can safely store liquid foods. It is recommended for storing small side dishes such as boiled beans, vinegared mozuku seaweed, and hijiki seaweed, as well as seasonings such as soy sauce and salt, and also for nuts and other snacks to go with alcohol.

Since each piece is handmade, there are individual differences in color, shape, size, thickness, weight, uneven glaze, etc. Also, depending on how the glaze is applied, each piece will have different expressions such as the degree of baking color, pinholes, iron powder (black spots), etc. Please rest assured that this does not affect the use. Please enjoy the unique expressions that can only be achieved by handmade items. Although you cannot choose which item you will receive, we hope you will look forward to receiving it. If you are interested, please contact us before shipping and we will email you a photo separately.

Recommended maintenance methods from Furutani Pottery |
*When you first start using it, wash it lightly with detergent and use it as is. * When serving oily or dark-colored foods, quickly dip the plate in water to moisten it before using, which will help prevent stains. * Because it is absorbent, it may turn grey or develop spots when soaked in water, but rest assured that it will return to its original state once it dries completely. After use, be sure to dry thoroughly before storing to prevent mold and stains. |
Understanding "Utsuwa" before purchasing |
*Because each piece is handmade, there will be individual differences in color, shape, pattern, size, thickness, weight, etc. Also, even with the same glaze and clay, there will be uneven color and shading. *Each piece is hand painted, so the expression may vary. Depending on the product, small holes, small black spots, scratches, protrusions, pinholes, rattling, and distortions may be found due to the manufacturing process. *We process the product images to make them as close to the actual colors as possible, but the colors and textures may appear different depending on the display screen of your computer or smartphone. *In addition to inspection by the manufacturer, kiln, and artist, we only deliver products that have passed final inspection at our store. *The product photos are sample shots, so the items you receive will not be identical in every detail. * We do not accept returns or exchanges due to customer convenience. Please understand and agree before making a purchase. We hope you enjoy the unique "flavor" and "interestingness" that can only come from something handmade, not mass-produced in a factory! |
