Elegant leaf pattern
The edge is decorated with a leaf pattern. The two-tiered rim is stylish and makes the food look delicious.
A warm, powdered white finish
The soft expression of this Kohiki ware is achieved by applying white makeup. The pale pink and slightly reddish spots called Gohon, which are unique to Kohiki ware, appear and give it an indescribable warmth.
Tasty iron powder
The iron contained in the clay oxidizes during firing and appears as black spots (iron powder) on the surface of the pottery. These scattered black spots of iron add an even more profound flavor to the pottery.
The food stands out brilliantly
The leaf pattern on the edge and the beautiful white powdered finish are attractive, and they beautifully display main dishes, pasta, curry, omelet rice and other food served on them.
Since each piece is handmade, there may be individual differences in color, shape, thickness, size, weight, uneven glaze, glaze pools, slight wobble, and patterns and designs. Also, there may be differences in the amount of glaze applied, crazing, pinholes, or iron powder (black spots), but this does not affect the use of the item. Please enjoy the unique expressions that can only be achieved through handmade products. You cannot choose which item you will receive, but we hope you will look forward to receiving it. If you are interested, please contact us before shipping and we will email you a photo separately.

Recommended maintenance methods and precautions from Furutani Pottery |
*When you first use it, wash it lightly with detergent and use it as is. * When serving oily or dark-colored foods, quickly dip the plate in water to moisten it before using, which will help prevent stains. * Because it is absorbent, it may turn grey or develop spots when soaked in water, but rest assured that it will return to its original state once it dries completely. After use, be sure to dry thoroughly before storing to prevent mold and stains. |
Understanding of "Utsuwa" |
*Because each piece is handmade, there will be individual differences in color, shape, pattern, size, thickness, weight, etc. Also, even with the same glaze and clay, there will be uneven color and shading. *Each piece is hand painted, so the expression may vary. Depending on the product, small holes, small black spots, scratches, protrusions, pinholes, rattling, and distortions may be found due to the manufacturing process. *We process the product images to make them as close to the actual colors as possible, but the colors and textures may appear different depending on the display screen of your computer or smartphone. *In addition to inspection by the manufacturer, kiln, and artist, we only deliver products that have passed final inspection at our store. *The product photos are sample shots, so the items you receive will not be identical in every detail. * We do not accept returns or exchanges due to customer convenience. Please understand and agree before making a purchase. We hope you enjoy the unique "flavor" and "interestingness" that can only come from something handmade, not mass-produced in a factory! |
