Sophistication and rustic warmth
The gentle curves and form, the warmth that can only be expressed with earthenware, and the soft white color that gives a sense of the flow and depth of the glaze. The simple and beautiful design has been stripped of all unnecessary elements. You will be captivated by the unique presence and beautiful appearance that blends naturally with both Japanese and Western tastes.

He considers the weight of his pottery to be a part of his design, and creates his pieces while searching for the right weight for the piece, fluctuating between the shape and how it feels in the hand. He also values the comfortable feel that comes with holding pottery in the hand, something that is unique to crafts.

This is made using a technique called carbonization, where firewood is added at the end of the firing process to smoke the pottery. The red clay turns black and the glaze turns a soft white. It is also nice that the clay is left exposed on a wide foot so that the taste of the clay can be felt.

White tableware beautifully and beautifully brings out the beauty of both the food and the dining table. The texture is semi-matte, so it feels soft and gentle to the touch. You can enjoy a leisurely meal with family and friends, or take a relaxing afternoon tea time, and spend happy and enjoyable times.

Because each piece is handmade, there may be individual differences in color, shade, shape, thickness, size, weight, uneven glaze, slight wobble, and subtle differences in the design. Please enjoy these unique expressions that can only be achieved through handmade items. Although you cannot choose which item you will receive, we hope you will look forward to receiving it. If you are interested, please contact us before shipping and we will email you a photo separately.

Recommended care methods and precautions from Hideo Tsujinaka |
* Please be careful when using metal spoons or forks, as the scraped metal will adhere to the vessel. This happens because the glaze is harder than the metal. Do not try rubbing it. We recommend using wooden spoons and forks. |
Understanding of "Utsuwa" |
*Because each piece is handmade, there will be individual differences in color, shape, pattern, size, thickness, weight, etc. Also, even with the same glaze and clay, there will be uneven color and shading. *Each piece is hand painted, so the expression may vary. Depending on the product, small holes, small black spots, scratches, protrusions, pinholes, rattling, and distortions may be found due to the manufacturing process. *We process the product images to make them as close to the actual colors as possible, but the colors and textures may appear different depending on the display screen of your computer or smartphone. *In addition to inspection by the manufacturer, kiln, and artist, we only deliver products that have passed final inspection at our store. *The product photos are sample shots, so the items you receive will not be identical in every detail. * We do not accept returns or exchanges due to customer convenience. Please understand and agree before making a purchase. We hope you enjoy the unique "flavor" and "interestingness" that can only come from something handmade, not mass-produced in a factory! |
