Quietly speaking to your heart

A nostalgic familiarity, as if you've met it somewhere before, yet with a subtly mysterious presence. From the moment your eyes meet, ponpoco possesses a charm that quietly permeates your heart. Its rounded form, soft demeanor, and a touch of humor. When you touch it, a warmth gently spreads, as if it's responding to your feelings.

Ryoko Horie's pocochoco

It began as a small mushroom. From there, ponpoco gradually transformed, growing into an entity that dwells in a corner of someone's life. Like a rounded pebble, it possesses the gentleness that only something that has aged can have, and a somewhat nostalgic air. That memory-like sensation is quietly enclosed within it.

Tiny, rice grain-sized parts are crafted with fingertips. Each carefully layered step in the process is reflected in its expression and gestures, endowing it with a unique personality, like its own "character." The moist texture that fits comfortably in your hand, and the deep expressions created by multiple layers of glaze. All of these shape its existence not merely as a vessel or an object, but as a "vessel for touching and communicating with the heart."

Simply placing it on a shelf softens the space, and in a fleeting moment, your eyes meet, and your heart unwinds. Even in busy days, you find yourself wanting to stroke it or whisper to it. Life with ponpoco nearby is filled with quiet gentleness and a touch of playfulness. Before you know it, your everyday life will likely become a little more precious.

As each item is handmade, there will be individual differences in color, shape, thickness, size, weight, glaze unevenness, glaze drips, glaze pools, slight wobbles, patterns, and expressions. In addition, some items may have variations in glaze application, crazing, pinholes, or iron spots (black dots), but these do not affect usability. Please enjoy these as unique characteristics of handmade craftsmanship. We cannot guarantee which specific item you will receive, but we hope you will look forward to its arrival. If you are concerned, please contact us before shipping, and we will be happy to email you additional photos.

Recommended Care and Precautions from Ryoko Horie
〇When first using, soak in rice water (or plain water if you are short on time) overnight, then dry thoroughly in a well-ventilated place before use.

 Understanding "Tableware"
〇As each item is handmade, there will be individual differences in color, shape, pattern, size, thickness, and weight. Also, even with the same glaze and clay, color variations and shades will occur.
〇Because the painting is also hand-drawn one by one, the expressions may vary.
〇Depending on the product, small holes, small black dots, scratches, protrusions, pinholes, wobbles, and distortions may be seen due to the manufacturing process.
〇While we make every effort to process images to display colors as close to the actual product as possible, colors and textures may appear differently depending on your computer or smartphone display.
〇We deliver products that have passed not only inspections by the manufacturer, kiln, and artist, but also our own final inspection.
〇Product photos are sample shots, so the item you receive will not be identical in every detail.
〇We do not accept returns or exchanges due to customer convenience. Please understand and acknowledge this before purchasing.
〇We hope you will enjoy the "flavor" and "charm" unique to handmade items, which are not found in mass-produced factory goods!
