The artist loves the forms and decorated creatures of ancient Orient and the Jomon period, and is fascinated by their inscrutable expressions and unintended humor. You can feel an inexpressible charm, as if ancient and modern essences are blended together.

Each strand of fur is hand-carved, giving it a very realistic feel. Ms. Kato says she loves observing the various movements and expressions of bears at bear ranches. This strong curiosity might be what gives rise to these ineffably charming expressions.

As each item is handmade, there may be individual differences in color, shape, thickness, size, weight, glaze unevenness/pooling, stone bursts, slight wobbling, and subtle differences in patterns/designs. Additionally, there may be variations in glaze application, crazing, pinholes, and iron spots (black dots), but these do not affect usability. Please enjoy these as unique expressions of handmade craftsmanship. We cannot choose which item you receive, but we hope you look forward to its arrival.
