beautiful flying plane
A pattern of flying planes engraved rhythmically. Place the potter's clay on the potter's wheel and apply a curved iron plane (using the mainspring part of a mainspring clock) while rotating it to create a regular and beautiful pattern.
the perfection of beauty for
In 1954, Muneyoshi Yanagi, the father of Mingei, and British potter Bernard Leach visited Koishiwara and praised Koishiwara ware as "the perfection of beauty for use." While learning the goodness of the tradition built by our predecessors, it is a wonderful and beautiful vessel that fits modern life and sensibilities.
Adorable white dot pattern
The pottery is made from a glaze that is a unique combination of high-quality soil from the mountains of Koishiwara, ash from straw and wood, and natural ingredients such as feldspar. Cute dots applied with white makeup clay. The calm gray and gentle white that looks like falling snow are a wonderful match.
I want to keep it on hand at all times
A mug that you want to use properly according to the mood and scene of the day. Matte and calming gray and gentle white clay dots make you feel calm. Recommended for afternoon tea time and entertaining guests.
It's also nice to use the separately sold 15 cm small plate as a saucer.

Okina Kamamoto's recommended maintenance methods and precautions |
〇 You don't need to close your eyes. Boiling out the matte glaze makes it easier to penetrate. You can start using it after washing it quickly. 〇 You can also use the dishwasher, but please be aware that if the plates come into contact with each other, they may chip easily. 〇Be careful not to change the temperature due to rapid heating and cooling, as the plate may crack easily. 〇 The oven can be used, but we do not recommend daily use for commercial use. |
Koishiwarayaki Koishiwarayaki |
Koishiwara-yaki is a type of pottery made in the Koishiwara district located in the northern part of Toho Village, Asakura-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture. It started in 1669 when Sadamasa Hachinojo (grandchild of Hachizan Takatori, the founder of Takatori ware) found pottery clay in Koishiwara Sarayama and moved there. It is said that in 1682, Mitsuyuki Kuroda, the third feudal lord of the Tsukuzen Fukuoka Domain, began making pottery following the example of Imari, where porcelain production was thriving. Since the establishment of the Kyushu Folk Crafts Association in 1948, Koishiwara ware has become widely known as folk crafts pottery. In 1958, it won the Grand Prix at the World Exposition held in Brussels, Belgium, and attracted attention as "beauty of use." In 1975, it was designated as a traditional craft for the first time as ceramics. The traditional techniques of Koishiwarayaki include “Tobiplane”, “Hakeme”, “Kushime”, and “Uchikake”. More than 350 years later, we continue to challenge new styles while preserving traditional techniques. |
Understanding of "Utsuwa" |
〇Because each product is handmade, there may be individual differences in color, shape, pattern, size, thickness, weight, etc. Also, even with the same glaze and clay, uneven colors and shading will appear. 〇Because the painting is also hand-painted one by one, the expression may differ. 〇 Depending on the product, there may be small holes, small black dots, line scratches, protrusions, pinholes, rattling, or distortion due to the manufacturing process. 〇 We have processed the image of the product so that the color is as close to the real thing as possible, but the color and texture may look different depending on the display screen of your computer or smartphone. 〇In our shop, we not only inspect the manufacturer, pottery, and artist, but also deliver products that have passed the final inspection at our store. 〇 Product photos are sample shots, so the items you receive will not be the same in detail. 〇 We do not accept returns or exchanges due to customer's convenience. Please purchase after understanding and acknowledging this. 〇 We would be happy if you could enjoy the “taste” and “interest” of handmade products that are not found in factory mass-produced products! |
