A little story in everyday life
These vessels have a charming, playful world that seems to have jumped out of a picture book. Animals and plants that look as if they're about to move are freely depicted all over the vessels, warming your heart just by looking at them. Each piece has a different expression, making it a lovely example of handmade craftsmanship.
All patterns are drawn freehand. Cherishing that natural flow, the artist arrived at the ancient "掻き落とし" (kakikomi/sgraffito) technique through self-study, without even knowing its name, and refined it into their unique expression. The warmth of the handiwork becomes the individuality of the piece, creating a profound charm.
After trying various clays, the artist chose Mashiko clay, which provides the desired texture. White clay, black clay, and blended clays are used according to the image of each piece, creating a gentle and profound appearance. Contrary to their rustic look, these pieces are made very thin and light, so much so that you'll be surprised by their lightness the moment you pick them up. In addition to being easy to use for daily life without worry, they are also microwave-safe for reheating, which is a nice bonus.
From serving your favorite snacks to everyday breakfast or tea time, just plating turns an ordinary moment into a slightly special treat. These vessels will become a part of your daily life, making you reach for them often, thinking, "Today, I'll use this one."
Each piece is handmade, so there are individual differences in color, shape, thickness, size, weight, glaze unevenness/pooling, stone bursts, slight wobbling, and subtle differences in patterns/designs. Also, some pieces may have variations in glaze application, crazing, pinholes, or iron spots (black dots), but these do not affect their use. Please enjoy them as unique expressions of handmade craftsmanship. You cannot choose which item you receive, but we hope you will look forward to its arrival.
