Bringing small stories to everyday life
These vessels boast a charming world that seems to have popped right out of a picture book. Animals and flowers, looking as if they're about to spring to life, are freely and vibrantly depicted all over the vessels, warming your heart just by looking at them. Each piece has a unique expression, showcasing the loveliness that only handcrafted items can offer.
All patterns are drawn freehand. Embracing this unique fluidity, the artist independently arrived at the ancient "sgraffito" technique, without even knowing its name, and refined it into a personal expression. The warmth of the handcraft itself becomes the individuality of each piece, creating a profound charm.
After experimenting with various types of clay, the artist chose Mashiko clay, which provides the desired texture. White clay, black clay, and blended clays are used selectively to match the image of each piece, resulting in gentle and profound expressions. Contrary to their rustic appearance, the pieces are made very thin and light, surprising you with their lightness the moment you pick them up. In addition to their everyday usability, they are also microwave-safe for reheating, which is a welcome feature.
From serving your favorite snacks to everyday breakfasts and tea time, these vessels transform ordinary moments into slightly special, rewarding experiences just by plating. You'll find yourself reaching for these vessels more often, making them companions in your daily life.
As each item is handmade, there will be individual differences in color, shape, thickness, size, weight, glaze unevenness/pooling, small pinholes, slight wobbling, and subtle differences in patterns. Additionally, some items may have variations in glaze application, crazing, pinholes, or iron spots (black dots), but these do not affect their use. Please enjoy these as unique expressions of handmade craftsmanship. You cannot choose which specific item you receive, but we hope you look forward to its arrival.
