Overlapping tradition and modern sensibilities
The pieces are made using four types of clay: white clay, rough clay, red clay, and regular clay, which are made from iron-rich pottery stone . The starting point for this new challenge was the idea that "can we make use of the clay that was originally removed to make white porcelain clay?" The vessels that were arrived at after countless trial productions have a rich expression that is different from traditional porcelain.

The potter uses three main techniques for shaping: potter's wheel, tatara, and mold-making, making the most of the characteristics of each. The warmth and reliable technique that can only be achieved through handwork is imbued in each and every piece.

The tasteful designs, patterns, designs, and colorful use of colors are inspired by old Japanese patterns as well as textiles and tiles from overseas. The good old style of Tobe ware is fused with modern essence in a well-balanced way, resulting in original pieces.

It has a presence that lifts your spirits just by holding it, yet it is a relaxed piece for everyday use. Whether you are using it for daily cooking or snacks, or simply having it there, it will mysteriously make your everyday moments feel a little more special. The longer you use it and the longer you use it, the more you will grow to love it. Why not bring such an item into your daily life?

Because each piece is handmade, there will be individual differences in color, shape, thickness, size, weight, uneven glaze, glaze pools, stone cracks, slight wobble, and subtle differences in the design and pattern. Also, some pieces may have variations in the glaze application, crazing, pinholes, or iron powder (black spots), but this does not affect their usability. Please enjoy the unique features that only a handmade piece can offer. While you cannot choose which item you will receive, we hope you will look forward to receiving it. If you have any concerns, please contact us before shipping and we will email you a photo.

Recommended care methods and precautions from Satsukigama
*Since it is porcelain clay, it does not absorb moisture, so there is no need to seal it. * Avoid sudden changes in temperature, such as rapid cooling or heating. For example, taking it out of the microwave and immediately placing it in a cold sink.
Understanding of "Utsuwa"
Because each piece is handmade, there will be individual differences in color, shape, pattern, size, thickness, weight, etc. Also, even with the same glaze and clay, there will be uneven color and shading. 〇Since each piece is painted by hand, the expression may vary. Depending on the product, small holes, small black spots, scratches, protrusions, pinholes, rattles, and distortions may be found due to the manufacturing process. 〇We have processed the product images to make them as close to the actual colors as possible, but the colors and textures may appear different depending on the display screen of your computer or smartphone. 〇In addition to inspection by the manufacturer, kiln, and artist, we only deliver products that have passed final inspection at our store. *Product photos are sample shots, so the items you receive may not be identical in every detail. *We do not accept returns or exchanges due to customer convenience. Please understand this before purchasing. We hope you enjoy the unique "flavor" and "interestingness" of handmade products that you won't find in mass-produced products from factories!
