Scraping technique
The technique used is to apply a layer of clay to the ceramic surface and then scrape the pattern into it with a needle-like tool. This is a time-consuming and labor-intensive process, but it results in a warm and unique texture .
A touching Japanese charm
The colors, shapes, and patterns of these dishes are somehow nostalgic and have a mysterious charm that soothes the soul. The indigo color, which resembles ink, and the patterns of animals, plants, and flowers that appear in picture books of Japanese folk tales make you feel comfortable.
A gentle presence
The gentle dragon pattern evokes a nostalgic feeling, reminiscent of a scene from a Japanese folk tale . It has a smooth and gentle texture. The three-dimensional pattern and fading that can only be achieved by scraping off the paper give it a warm, handcrafted feel.
For everyday use and special occasions
The calm texture exudes a Japanese atmosphere, making it perfect for everyday use as well as special occasions such as New Year's Day, Hinamatsuri, and Children's Day. It can be used for side dishes, salads, fruits, yogurt, and as a teacup or sake cup.
Because each piece is handmade, there are individual differences in color, shape, size, weight, unevenness, glaze buildup, shrinkage, and subtle differences in the design. In addition, there may be differences in the progress of the glaze, shading and fading of the pattern due to the scraping technique, pinholes, iron powder (black spots), blotches, and stones, but this does not affect the use of the product. You cannot choose whether or not you will receive the product, but please enjoy it until it arrives. If you are concerned, please contact us before shipping and we will email you a photo separately, so please feel free to contact us.

Recommended care methods and precautions from Naoko Yoshimura |
*Because it is semi-porcelain, there is no need to seal the pores. We recommend sealing the pores of cups, as this will prevent them from becoming discolored. * Please refrain from using microwave ovens for dishes decorated with gold or silver. |
Please understand about "Utsuwa" |
*Because each piece is handmade, there will be individual differences in color, shape, pattern, size, thickness, weight, etc. Also, even with the same glaze and clay, there will be uneven color and shading. *Each piece is hand painted, so the expression may vary. Depending on the product, small holes, small black spots, scratches, protrusions, pinholes, rattling, and distortions may be found due to the manufacturing process. *We process the product images to make them as close to the actual colors as possible, but the colors and textures may appear different depending on the display screen of your computer or smartphone. *In addition to inspection by the manufacturer, kiln, and artist, we only deliver products that have passed final inspection at our store. *The product photos are sample shots, so the items you receive will not be identical in every detail. * We do not accept returns or exchanges due to customer convenience. Please understand and agree before making a purchase. We hope you enjoy the unique "flavor" and "interestingness" that can only come from something handmade, not mass-produced in a factory! |
